A single touch
No longer vertical
I turn to liquid
In response to Patrick Jennings Pic and a Word Challenge #139: Vertical and The Weekly Photo Challenge: Liquid
He sat there frozen
A painful reminder
Of days gone by
When mankind
Was allowed to read
And relax, and dream
A time before the ban
That constant reminder
Of the punishment
For being caught reading
Was to be turned to stone
In response to Patrick Jennings’ Pic and a Word Challenge #128: Frozen and the Weekly Photo Challenge: Out of This World
This year I resolve to shatter
That glass ceiling that is my mind
For beautiful as the glass is
The atmosphere weighs heavily
And is but a sparkly, fragile illusion
Better to let the sharp fragments
Rain their color down upon me
Than to stay below the surface
Wanting to be flying above
