Wanderlust

6ECEE733-62DB-41FC-BE25-9878374D7F43

My spirit bound to earth
Body a straight jacket
That gets tighter with age
My youth flew with the ether
Those days long past
So I must keep moving
To fill my wanderlust
Or succumb to the gravity
That pulls my leaden limbs

Atmosphere

File Nov 17, 9 38 24 PM

In smoldering ash
Nothing left but a flicker
Of a life that was

 Before the earth’s atmosphere
Became the human experiment

Steadfast

The glow of life as it recedes
Deep into the dormant stage
Gathering energy, steadfastly waiting
For the first hint of spring’s warmth
To release the sleeping beauty within
And begin the life cycle anew

Mighty Succession

earth

reform

There is a beauty
In wreck and ruin
Where survival
Is the leading lady
Time worn
But still standing
The scars of violence
Begin to heal
Her pyroclastic flow
Long since dried
But deep down inside
Her core still burns

Silence

img_0788

Beautiful sunrise
Shared with a friend from Ukraine
Our souls are the same

United in our silence
At the wonders of nature

Last week I had the honor of sponsoring an Environmental Delegate from the Ukraine. At first we struggled a bit with communication but with the use of a translation app (and a little bit of patience), we always managed to understand each other and soon we got into a groove. She had never been kayaking before and was eager to go but the weather had been uncooperative for most of the week. Finally on her last morning we got up before dawn to calm weather and launched in time to watch the sun rise on the bayou. She was a natural at paddling but what I loved most was that we would both stop and silently take in the beauty of the morning. No words were needed.
