Dancing Echoes

Beats Stumbling Around in Silence

My spirit bound to earth
Body a straight jacket
That gets tighter with age
My youth flew with the ether
Those days long past
So I must keep moving
To fill my wanderlust
Or succumb to the gravity
That pulls my leaden limbs

In smoldering ash
Nothing left but a flicker
Of a life that was

 Before the earth’s atmosphere
Became the human experiment

My heart goes out to my Gulf Coast neighbors. I want to say that the storm will pass and there are rainbows ahead but right now that seems trite and doesn’t bring solace. The impact of these devastating disasters lasts for years. In the current climate of divisiveness and anger, it gives me hope to see folks coming together and showing the best of humanity under such horrible circumstances.

For anyone who wants to help, here is a link to the Hurricane Harvey Facebook page with options for donation.

A time of turmoil
Humanity on the rocks
All compassion gone

Heart hardened like stone
From pain, fear, disappointment
My internal shell

Then this loving face
Acts as the water or wind
I break down and cry

I needed this light
In a time when peace alludes
Love among the hate
