Dancing Echoes

Beats Stumbling Around in Silence

Where I Belong

I belong with the fishes
In the cold deep down under
Where my passion is stirred
By the riot of colors
In an undulating sea
Where I am the outlander
In supplication to Poseidon’s
Cerulean domain
Where my body is weightless
My voice silent
And heartbeat strong

Quiet

As I sit in your quiet house
A lifetime of memories haunt me
Sweet snippets of laughter play
A flickering old movie reel
Until the film finally runs out
Celluloid flapping against metal
Jolts me back to reality
Past relationships lost to time
Unwilling to mask my sorrow

Heaven

No more dances

Around the sun

She is now

Back to stardust

Heavens

Man made heavens
A meretricious imitation
To trees covered in birdsong

Don’t get me wrong, I am in awe of the human capability to create beautiful art, but nothing compares to the cosmos which is what inspires our art in the first place. Waking up under a canopy of trees by a birdsong alarm is my idea of heaven (even if my old back is stiff from sleeping on the ground).

Risk

From the moment we are born
Until the moment we die
Our lives are a series
Of calculated risks
That make life worth living
And ventures worth taking
When fear of regret is greater
Than the reality of danger
