Raindrops on Bamboo

image

Chèvrefeuille:

raindrops on bamboo
shimmer in the sunlight
little diamonds

Dancing Echoes:

Breathy wind whistles through stand
Lilting melody takes wing

Raindrops on Cypress

image

Dancing Echoes:

Raindrops on cypress
Pearls of ancient wisdom
Grandma’s lace shawl

If I may be so bold; I’ve had this photograph of a Cypress tree after a rain storm in my collection or a few months now. I played around with a corresponding poem but never came up with anything solid. When I saw this Tan Renga challenge the photo came immediately to mind and inspired the haiku above. If anyone is so inclined to complete this Tan Renga I would be honored.

Ese’s “before the dusk” Tan Renga

image

Ese:

before the dusk
lingering in the cobweb
the last of the light

My response:

a protective dreamcatcher
snaring bad dreams come the night

Tan Renga Party in Progress: In the Twilight (continued)

image

Renga Party in Progress: In the Twilight

in the twilight
mist creeps over the fields –
stars twinkle
Chèvrefeuille

climbing vines of honeysuckle
scented breeze lures out the moon
Ese

moonglow touches earth
sparkles brightly on still water
diamonds on the pond
Candy

sudden rainfall scatters the light
a lightning flash makes a frog jump
Hamish

brittle rings break
amid drifting leaves –
Luna, eclipsed
Jen

swaying branches dance
with the autumn wind
Misha D Sky

two silhouettes
under umbrella
at the bus stop
Misha D. Sky

navigating by instinct
on the road to Shangri-La
Lolly

love echoes
in the halls of paradise
a blackbird’s song
Georgia

umbrella eclipses kiss
stolen amongst sweet whispers
Dancing Echoes

day meets night
my love lost in dark
feel his aura
Usha

his skin kissed in the scent
of autumn dreams
Dolores

witching hour
shimmer of the moon
caressing her curves
Celestine

there in the gentle ripples
their hearts speak one language
Gillena

celestial bodies
envious of the lovers –
twinkle each other
Milan

spiritual lantern whisper
chorus of eternal love
Ruchi

scent of hyacinth
mingle with the cool moonlit air
nights to remember
Jazzy

purple beauties wink merrily
lovers drink in the mystique
Nimi

holding hands
light spring in step
– swing sways
Nimi

on the children’s playground
memories grabbing me by the throat
Chèvrefeuille

early temple bell
young monk shudders in his sleep
dream interrupted
Ese

strutting rooster crows
as farmer sips his morning tea
Candy

and the hunter, he waits
he waits as the sun rises
in the Azalea grass
Hamish

plea and answer, eye to eye
and the bow is lowered
Jen

trampled pride
on a trembling lip
it’s dawning
Mish D Sky

morning wood fuels the fire,
he wants coffee, tea and me
Lolly

arrow pierces flesh
quivering quarry succumbs
passion springing forth

“For the Star Festival”

Basho:

for the Star Festival
even when hearts cannot meet
rainy-rapture

Dancing Echoes:

fire and paper unite
lifting spirits young and old

“Has Spring Come” Spring Webs

image

*”Has spring come
Or the year gone away?
Second last day”

Spiders weave delicate orbs
Spring dew drops sparkle in the sun

image

Counting each new day
Weaving a delicate web
Of seasonal life

Warming in the April sun
Eight legs, eight eyes on alert

image

Winged insects struggle
Against the sticky tangles
A silken wrapped meal

Her suitor begins courtship
Waving enlarged pedipalps

image

Vigilant mother
Tending her silken egg sac
Spring days grow longer

Her year coming to an end
Small baby spiders spring forth

In response to CARPE DIEM HAIKU KAI: Carpe Tan Renga Challenge #82, *Basho’s first haiku (1668) “has spring come”

“through the darkest hour”

image

Ese:

through the darkest hour
every tree top in the forest
adorned with a star

Dancing Echoes:

as the full moon turns to blood
eclipsing as Easter dawns
