About

Dancing Echoes

Bio: I am a scientist by trade and artist by soul. My creative outlet used to be dancing but due to injuries and age, I must now find another path. I am hoping my writing, poetry and photography can be this new path. Awards: While I am grateful and honored for the numerous nominations, I don’t have time to respond to them with the attention they deserve, so for the most part, I am an award free blog. 1. Thank you for your support as well. We do share a love for dance although I am too old and injured to dance much any more. I look forward to seeing more of your work.

  5. David, I am honored to be nominated so I hope you won’t take offense that I rarely participate in awards. I found that while I have good intentions, I have a hard time with these and rather than disappoint, I will just admit up front that I probably won’t get to paying this forward. I have a hard time just keeping up with work, poetry and photography. I am enjoying your blog and look forward to reading more of your work and many thanks for your support.

  6. Absolutely no problem. It’s just a bit of fun anyway. I understand it’s not for everyone and to be honest I just wanted to introduce some others to your writing because I’ve enjoyed it. Thank you for reading mine. I look forward to reading more from yours. 🙂

  13. Finding new ways to fill up one’s soul isn’t an easy task. It is wonderful that you have found a way to help yourself and give to others at the same time. This is how I have experienced blogging. It appears to be true for you as well. I look forward to following you.

  20. Hi Christy,
Thanks for popping round to Beyond the Flow. I was immediately attracted to your blog by the title. My 12 year year old daughter is a very keen and dedicated dancer and I think she might do around 4-6 hours of dance per week. I was simply her taxi driver until a few years ago when I decided to attend an adult ballet class at the studio. I have an auto-immune disease which attacks my muscles and I’m not that coordinated so I had no expectations and fully expected to spend much of my time sitting down. However, some kind of miracle transpired and I danced. I do a class each term and they vary so I’ve done contemporary, lyrical, tap and ballet. Love it! I don’t know what kind of injuries you’ve sustained, but perhaps there’s a way for you to dance somehow in some way. I know for me it was different because I wasn’t a dancer before and had very low expectations but something might be possible. I know people in electric wheel chairs who dance by moving their chairs back and forwards. Of course it’s not the same and perhaps it is too emotionally painful to step so far back when you’ve been an accomplished dancer. I haven’t worked for the last 5 years since having chemo to treat this disease. So, while I have been able to take up some new things, I haven’t gone back to where I was either. I used to be a marketing manager, but my priorities have also changed significantly after all I’ve been through.
Here’s a link to a post I wrote about my entre in dancing: https://beyondtheflow.wordpress.com/2017/03/28/i-wish-i-had-dance-feet/
