Dancing Echoes

Beats Stumbling Around in Silence

In the soft early hours of the whippoorwill
The gleam of Earth’s temporary guest
Winds through our solar system
Its furtive tail rising above the tree tops
Hazy at first but growing more luminous by the minute
A race against the very sun that gives it measure
Your awe inspiring journey to places only imagined
Now the making of a magical morning for this earthling
And as you fade into the dayspring I bid farewell
-See you again in 6800 years

Ball of dust and ice
Hurtling through space and time
Another comet tale

I am a scientist by trade and artist by soul. My creative outlet used to be dancing but due to injuries and age, I must now find another path. I am hoping my writing, poetry and photography can be this new path. 2. Thank you! It is really cool and worth getting up early for. Much easier to see than I thought it would be. It is supposed to start to be visible in the NW in the evening but I saw it Sunday morning in the NE.

  3. That is very much among the very most lovely photographs I’ve seen of the comet. And you’re up against some stiff competition from the Nightscaper FB page, so well done.

The words are up to the task of accompanying it.

  6. <smile> Oh, the pain we endure for our art!

But, yes, well worth it. 🙂
