Beats Stumbling Around in Silence

Where there was once a parking lot
An environmental education building
Now stands surrounded by a mass of water
As an ironic reminder
That everything is connected
and both actions and non-actions have consequences

Denial doesn’t change facts
Drowning in ignorance and greed
Climate change

Sea level rising
The naturalist shack
Returns to nature

I am a scientist by trade and artist by soul. My creative outlet used to be dancing but due to injuries and age, I must now find another path. I am hoping my writing, poetry and photography can be this new path. Awards: While I am grateful and honored for the numerous nominations, I don’t have time to respond to them with the attention they deserve, so for the most part, I am an award free blog. 1. I’m glad you kept the brush on the right edge, it really forces the composition better … cover it up and you can see. Spectacular image and words to go with it.

  2. Amazing image… I like the saturation, vibrance and clarity. Such a vivid photograph as well as the words that accompany it.
    Powerful!

  3. I was randomly surfing your archives and I came across a piece you did in 2017(?) about a crow which was killed in a window strike. Forgive me, I cannot immediately locate it again. But I’m writing to invite you to have a look at news from today (Mar 6). If you have Facebook access, look at Teton Raptor Center. Just today they released a bird and a story I think you will enjoy.
I am loving your work. Thank you.

  6. The circumstances here are most appropriate, yet most likely to be ignored as a reminder by those who need one.

  10. Thank you Ali. I was a bit shocked to find part of Assateague Island, a place I grew up near, being swallowed by the sea.
