    I like the monochromatic graduations in this photo. Combined with the silvering of light, it creates a dream-like tableau — but with a very real “smallness of man” impact. (Does anyone ever NOT feel small when they walk beside the ocean?)

    <smile> I started a comment here yesterday, but it came out in verse, and got a little longer than a couplet or two, so I posted it instead as Missing the Sea.

    And then I booked a long weekend getaway to Ucluelet, on Vancouver Island’s rugged Pacific Coast.

    I see layers of thought/imagination/possibility in the ocean waves, so close and so much bigger than the physical human body. Beautiful photo and words.

    Thank you JoAnna. I couldn’t help but think of this as a homage to Stephen Hawking. His poor body was broken but his mind was always free.
