In smoldering ash
Nothing left but a flicker
Of a life that was

 Before the earth’s atmosphere
Became the human experiment

Author: Dancing Echoes

I am a scientist by trade and artist by soul. My creative outlet used to be dancing but due to injuries and age, I must now find another path. I am hoping my writing, poetry and photography can be this new path. Awards: While I am grateful and honored for the numerous nominations, I don’t have time to respond to them with the attention they deserve, so for the most part, I am an award free blog. 3. A powerful poem with such an important message. Some fires are necessary, but when they are deliberate for fun, that is not okay. There is so much risk with a place going up in smoke for no reason, or for commercial reasons. Beautiful photo and love that small spark you managed to capture there. Maybe it is indeed a real spark, or light glinting off something right there among the trees.

  4. Mabel, you are absolutely right, some fires are necessary as a fire ecology environment and to be truthful this is a picture of the end of a controlled burn with a tree that Still had a flickering flame on its trunk. I wanted to use this photo as a symbol of a larger problem of excess air pollution created by man.

  5. A toxic atmosphere, definitely. Well done; well said.

  7. That’s clever – three challenges in one, AND you made a relevant point.
I fancy you don’t post as often as you used to, way back…

  8. Thank you. I was very pissed off at the time.
No, I don’t have the time I used to have. Maybe at some point I will post more but for now I do what I can when I can. I like that you are on Facebook now. As soon as I see you post a new piece I read it. I don’t get to read as many of the wonderful, talented blogs as I used to either and many get lost in the shuffle.
