As I stand on the precipice
I slow down my brain
Away from the city noise
Listening to my breathing
My steady heartbeat
The wind swirling around me
Carrying the sounds of voices
Ancestors who stood here before me
The caw of the crow
Observing me with amusement
For he already knows
What I am learning
To quiet myself
And let it be

I am a scientist by trade and artist by soul. My creative outlet used to be dancing but due to injuries and age, I must now find another path. I am hoping my writing, poetry and photography can be this new path.

Thank you! It really did look like it was on fire. The cloud cover had been pretty bad but the Stites cleared as the sun was setting and I was fortunate enough to be a witness.

Ah. That is very fitting. I was in Seattle about two years after that happened, and they were still dealing with the ash dust. Crazy. 😃
