Dawn comes before consciousness
Low swells rise and fall

Odor of diesel and bait permeate
Sure hope I don’t feed the fish….

I am a scientist by trade and artist by soul. My creative outlet used to be dancing but due to injuries and age, I must now find another path. I am hoping my writing, poetry and photography can be this new path. 1. This creates for me lots of memory triggers from past fishing trips. Beautiful pic. You take amazing sunrise/sunset shots. Love the 2nd line and the internal rhyme. And the ellipsis. Maybe I’ll dust off the ole pole….

  2. Thank you Siegling. I’m sure with a little elbow grease and some new line your pole will be back in peak action in no time. Sorry, couldn’t help it….

  3. Been there… only on a dive charter on Lake Huron. Usually it was pretty easy for me to ride even the big waves, but pressure squeeze had brought on a sinus headache, and the rocking boat combined with its diesel exhaust brought on my first fish feeding episode. But, this poem did make me smile!

  4. Thank you for sharing. Yeah it is a horrible feeling. I am quite prone to it and will even break through the meds until I get acclimated but I love being on the water so much it is worth it to me. I even threw up under water once while diving and got a fish eye view of the feeding frenzy. Let’s just say I was put off Egg McMuffins for about 20 years…..

  6. Yea, but can’t blame you for that. It was a nice big juicy nugget. And besides, “no animals were harmed”.
