For some people
Their happy place
Resides in making the next kill
The next conquest
The next deal
And that’s OK.
But for me
My happy place
Is found in colors, light and textures
The beauty of plants and animals
The wonders of nature
And I am happy
Just to be.

I am a scientist by trade and artist by soul. My creative outlet used to be dancing but due to injuries and age, I must now find another path. I am hoping my writing, poetry and photography can be this new path.
Awards: While I am grateful and honored for the numerous nominations, I don’t have time to respond to them with the attention they deserve, so for the most part, I am an award free blog.

The beauty of plants and animals would be in my Happy Place, but in my Happiest place my family members dwell. Smiles for your lovely post with beautiful pictures!

Thank you! I agree but for the most part my family prefers to be anonymous so I honor their wishes. Besides, I have to admit I am more comfortable taking photos of nature than people. I have always admired photographers that captured the human spirit. I have always been uncomfortable asking folks for permission. You can see a rare, approved post of my step-kids on my post “Siblings”.

Those are such beautiful flowers. I’m fond of dahlias, too.

Aside from a few reservations about whether other people hankering after another kill/conquest/deal is really OK [it’s complicated], I enjoyed and agreed with the poem. The visual layout of the poem is nice too, tho nothing can compete with the gorgeous flower closeups.

I think that the kill/conquest has its place in terms of when survival is at stake and yes, it is complicated. In many cases though this behavior is just for the adrenaline rush and not survival. I guess my real point is that I’m not trying to judge. I am by nature very competitive and I have to keep this trait in check or at least balanced. I am old enough now though that sometimes “just being” is the only option anyway so I might as well embrace it. Thank you for the compliments.

I have an invitation to give you, and as I read your recent posts, I realized that your poetry and images are a happy place to be (I’m following so I knew that already). I tagged you for the 3 Day, 3 Quote challenge–the “rules” are included in my post–the quote posts can be your own prose or poetry. If you would prefer to pass please let me know. Thank you for the compliment and consideration. I will take a look at the challenge and let you know. I am honored to be tagged but I always feel like I let people down with some of these challenges and awards. I work full time plus then some so my blogging time is very limited. With that said, this looks like it might be a challenge that is a good fit. I’ll let you know and thanks again.

Your welcome. Take your time — I have noticed different approaches to the challenge — from brief to longer–but of course everything takes time and this has the added 3 tags per post aspect 😊
