I am a scientist by trade and artist by soul. My creative outlet used to be dancing but due to injuries and age, I must now find another path. I am hoping my writing, poetry and photography can be this new path. 1. Oh yes, youth with October’s pranks.

  2. Brings back memories for me. I never did that, but saw it in my neighborhood.

  3. I actually never did either. My parents would have KILLED me if I had been a party to pranks like this but I too have fond memories of the “morning after” results and that distinctive sulfur smell of rotting eggs and pumpkins. This poor neighborhood got soundly rolled this past weekend and it was pretty funny to see.

  4. If your country does not have this tradition, consider yourself lucky. It is a mess to clean up.

  5. Teenage memories huh? You’re saying you don’t do this anymore?? jk jk. My neighborhood was never too big on these. Some students TPd my whole high school, which was actually pretty cool – though messy. And kids in my neighborhood would throw eggs at cars, Autumn or not… My boyfriend was just talking about doing all these things when he was younger. Thank you so much for sharing your lovely poem and image.

  6. Thank you! I always wondered how this tradition started. I will have to research it. One thing’s for sure, there are teenagers in that house.

  9. When I was in elementary school, I went out by myself one Halloween night — safe to do that in suburban Long Island that decade, everybody surmised — and met up with a strolling gang of prank-seeking teens. I got egged on my head and thumped with a chalk-filled sock. Not fun for me. Stick to harmless papering, kids. Your photo brought this memory from my Wayback Machine, Christy, so it’s a good one.
