I am a scientist by trade and artist by soul. My creative outlet used to be dancing but due to injuries and age, I must now find another path. I am hoping my writing, poetry and photography can be this new path. 6. Wonderfully unusual mix of colors. Do U know which tree has purple leaves in fall?

  7. I am guessing Red Maple. This was taken up in Virginia last fall while I was visiting relatives and this yard is lined by deep woods. I grew up in that vicinity and then spent time in Maine so I have had the pleasure of experiencing spectacular fall colors. Where I live now doesn’t have a bright fall and I miss it terribly. As crazy as it sounds, I miss snow too. I really like areas with four seasons as each has its unique beauty.

  8. Tho I have never seen purple on red maple in the Hudson Valley, I have seen every shade of red (as well as orange and yellow). So purple in VA has plausibility. What little I can see of the leaf shape also looks consistent with red maple.

I like winter also (but could get along w/o it). Fall color is a necessity.

Thanks for the beautiful reminder in words and image.

  10. Thank you. Me too. I miss Maine the most in the fall.

  11. Yep. I miss the colours. I also miss the feel of the air, and its scent, in November, long after the leaves have fallen. Crisp and acrid.
