Beats Stumbling Around in Silence

Pond Scum

While I’m just scum
To more than some
Beyond the muck
There’s more than yuck
A microscopic world does lurk
Too small to see in all the murk
Relationships of hunter/prey
There’s more alive than in decay
Even the smallest pond is rife
Connected by that spark called life

I am a scientist by trade and artist by soul. My creative outlet used to be dancing but due to injuries and age, I must now find another path. I am hoping my writing, poetry and photography can be this new path. 1. That made me think of taking my kindergarteners to the Nature Center where the staff would talk to them about stuff like that. What a memory that brings back.

  6. Aw, thank you. I have been swamped with work and not able to write as much as I’d like. I haven’t had the time to keep up with my reading either so I have a lot of catching up to do exploring others great work – like yours.

  7. Love, love, love this. Had a garden pond and string algae was the bane of my existence. Thanks for reminding me of all the connections in nature.
