I am a scientist by trade and artist by soul. My creative outlet used to be dancing but due to injuries and age, I must now find another path. I am hoping my writing, poetry and photography can be this new path. 3. Almost that exact bug showed up on my dog’s ramp to the bed. Up close, the prickly things on it’s legs creep me out the most. Though it looks more like a German Cockroach than a Palmetto… idk. Florida bugs are the worst.

  4. Yeah, these get pretty big. Some of these are longer and some are fatter. This one wasn’t as big as a Madagascar Hissing Roach but it was still pretty big. Roaches are gonna happen around here though.

  9. &ltgrin> Ya know, cockroaches and mosquitoes are about the only creatures I kill myself. (I do allow butchers to kill things I like to eat for dinner. — Oh, wait… I do go fishing from time to time. Anyway…)

Not that I’m an actual Buddhist, or anything, but Buddhist teachings have influenced me. To the point that, I don’t take pleasure from killing anything.

Not that I think this — in any way — is a morally superior pusition.

  10. So now I know what a Palmetto bug is. Think I might have squashed it too – not yet buddhist enough to let that one past.

  11. I have been know to escort a spider out the door from time to time. These guys not so much. I do like fishing but not spear fishing. Once I’m down in their world looking them in the eye, I can’t do it. Of course if was my only means of food that would be different.

  13. Fancy name for a cockroach you southerners harbor. They’re the reason for pointy shoes in most northern cities, DE.
