Asparagus

Why asparagus
Do your tender, emerald spears
Give me stinky pee?

Why does asparagus make my urine smell?

I am a scientist by trade and artist by soul. My creative outlet used to be dancing but due to injuries and age, I must now find another path. I am hoping my writing, poetry and photography can be this new path. 2. Green River by I.P. Daly. No, that was Creedence Clearwater Revival, right, DE? I do not like asparagus one bit. Great humorous verse, you sly one.

  4. Asparagusic acid apparently. It breaks down in the body to sulphur compounds such as dimethyl sulfide, dimethyl disulfide, dimethyl sulfoxide and dimethyl sulfone. I think you may already know this, but just in case.

  5. Yep! I appreciate your input and it is very cool that you know this! There is a hotlink just below the poem. What I find fascinating is that we all produce it, but not all smell it. I am not so lucky.

  6. I’ve never noticed it. I have worked with mercaptans off and on so maybe I’m desensitised. Also, I don’t eat a lot of asparagus.
