Why asparagus
Do your tender, emerald spears
Give me stinky pee?
Why does asparagus make my urine smell?

Green River by I.P. Daly. No, that was Creedence Clearwater Revival, right, DE? I do not like asparagus one bit. Great humorous verse, you sly one.

Asparagusic acid apparently. It breaks down in the body to sulphur compounds such as dimethyl sulfide, dimethyl disulfide, dimethyl sulfoxide and dimethyl sulfone. I think you may already know this, but just in case.

Yep! I appreciate your input and it is very cool that you know this! There is a hotlink just below the poem. What I find fascinating is that we all produce it, but not all smell it. I am not so lucky.

I’ve never noticed it. I have worked with mercaptans off and on so maybe I’m desensitised. Also, I don’t eat a lot of asparagus.

Oh, gawd, do I love whimsy….
And the self-deprecations which bring us all down to earth.
Thanks for the chuckle!
