If I Could

If I could

I would release my soul from my body
And visit you in the night

Wrap myself around you while you sleep
And release you from your chains

Cleanse you like the wave of a tsunami
And whisper that you matter

I am a scientist by trade and artist by soul. My creative outlet used to be dancing but due to injuries and age, I must now find another path. I am hoping my writing, poetry and photography can be this new path. Awards: While I am grateful and honored for the numerous nominations, I don’t have time to respond to them with the attention they deserve, so for the most part, I am an award free blog. 2. I’ve got a raging virus at the moment. So best stay away . I don’t like poems as a rule. I like that one.

  4. This is how I feel when a loved one is in trouble and I’m too far away.

  8. This gave me goosebumps. I wish I had written it, and that’s the highest praise there is.

  10. Sometimes I feel I don’t know what I am doing. Other times I feel things just come through me. It’s as if I am the wire, not the electricity. I wake up every day afraid that the switch will be turned off.

  11. Thank you too.
Here’s the deal. I’ll agree that my work is beautiful if you’ll agree that yours is.

  12. That’s how I feel! When it works there are so many words that I can’t write fast enough to get them all down, then people start taking bits of me so I don’t have time to write, and the next day everything is lost, and I feel as if I’ve been detatched from the source for not paying enough attention. My friends think that I focus too much on my writing. They can’t see that I have to. They can’t see that writing feels as esssential as eating.

  13. Yes! It is like needing oxygen sometimes. And like you, if I don’t write it down “poof” it vanishes. I scribble random notes or trigger words all day and then try to assemble them during a moment of peace. And why, oh why do most of the ideas come in the shower! Now I keep my phone next to the shower so I don’t have to walk across the room dripping wet to capture a fleeting thought. Crazy.

  14. Phone. Shower. Water. you’re ok with that combination? Needs must, I suppose.
When I’m walking all the words in my head fall into rhyme and rhythm. I have to write while on the move because if I stop I’ll never get anywhere. People probably think I’m nuts. don’t know if this happens to you, but those words never go anywhere. I Do my real work on the laptop, and as soon as I switch it on, new words and ideas appear, unless I’m having a blank day, in which case turning to my notes is a waste of time, because on a blank day it all looks like rubbish to me.
    All or nothing.

  15. First, DE: Wow on this one. There is no soul that would not wish this were written for it.

Second, Christy and Jane: This is an illuminating exchange of comments. You two click on a very instinctive writing level. You should consider collaborating on an educational post about writing approaches, and the chase and catch of the muse. In any case, thanks for sharing this here.

  19. I had a profound experience with my Fathers passing. I was by his side and able to whisper in his ear what a great Dad he had been, how proud I was of him and what a difference he had made in the lives he touched. I think in the end most people just want to know that they mattered.

  20. Thank you very much for sharing this personal “goodbye” story. So special and dear, very important to try to be there for both of you as he was close to leaving ♡
