Beats Stumbling Around in Silence

My Pleasure

Ah, er, this one’s for 18 or older please

The dawning of our illustrious affair,
We were introduced by a friend;
Began when I was without care,
My lonely nights would spend;
Dreaming of such pleasure
Previously provided by a boy;
To once again feel glorious thrill,
More times than I could measure,
All from such a simple toy
I secretly called my Dil

But now when I am at my home,
We rarely get to play,
Because I am no longer alone
When night time turns to day.
Our time together I must ponder;
Now you sit within a drawer,
A reminder of my single life;
With memories that grow fonder,
And stories that rival ancient lore
Since I’ve become another’s wife.

  1. I must be getting old, that shocked me. I like to be shocked occasionally. Great choice of object, and the poem flows nicely. Thank you for sharing, you naughty lady. .

  2. Yeah, sorry about that. I wrote it with many reservations but decided that at my age, what the heck, I have nothing to lose. Besides, it got me through some tough times after my divorce from my first husband.

  3. Don’t apologise. Most households have at least one, kicking around somewhere. And it’s a great escape from harsh reality when things are tough. I like openness and honesty. I write gut-wrenching stuff, and often have doubts about whether I should share it here. Your poem, on the other hand, made me smile. and I really appreciate that.

  8. Thank you. I am blown away with your gut wrenching stuff. Part of my bog down with the Fog assignment is that it is my gut wrenching poem and I am having a hard time giving birth. Dealing with pain through humor is my comfort zone.

  9. I used to do that! If anyone hurt me ,I would write a humorous poem about their unkind behaviour or their shortcomings. Sometimes I’d show it to people, and go around with a sly smile on my face for the rest of the day. It really helped, but I don’t think it would worlk for me now I’ve hit the road (metaphoically speaking)
    Oh, the devices we employ for survival!

  10. I don’t know if you remember the episode of Seinfeld that dealt with this subject – not the toy of pleasure but the pleasure itself. Everyone was stunned – unheard of talking about it on national tv -TABOO – This post reminded me of the same type of taboo – unheard of but everyone has heard of it! All I know is that when I got to end of the poem – I LMAO! Thanks for the laugh…
